Drug Paraphernalia/Aggravated Criminal Trespassing — Officer Jeremiah Brooks was dispatched to a Forrest Avenue residence on Tuesday morning, May 10, regarding an altercation. Brooks spoke to the owner Stacy Hinson who stated that Joshua Gray, 41, Huntingdon, was back on his property after being asked to stay off the property. Brooks confronted Gray and initially arrested him for Trespassing. According to Brook’s report, he searched Gray locating a small box containing two compartments used to hold a smoking pipe and loose marijuana. Gray was additionally charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and transported to Carroll County Jail.

Multiple Charges — Several residents of a Walnut Avenue residence were arrested by McKenzie Police Tuesday morning, May 10 after a search warrant was executed on the residence. According to the report by Officer Dalton Raspberry, he and other officers found numerous items including a cinch style bag containing four baggies containing a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana as well as a lot of loose green leafy substance loose in the bag. A clear plastic bag containing approximately $352 in cash. 125 unused plastic baggies were found in the kitchen area. A black backpack was found in a bedroom containing two vacuum sealed bags of a green leafy substance along with a loaded black Ruger handgun with the serial number scraped off. A small bag of white powdery substance was also located in the bedroom.

The green leafy substance field tested to be marijuana and weighed approximately 4.5 pounds. The residents in the house were arrested including Demetria J. Strayhorn, Heriva L. Strayhorn, Wynter M Strayhorn and later Michael A. Webb turned himself in to police. They were all charged with Possession of Schedule VI (Marijuana) with Intent to Deliver/Resale, Possession of Schedule II (Cocaine), Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Dangerous Felony, Alteration of Item’s Identifying numbers, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Multiple Charges — Officer Darren Davis responded to a call early Thursday evening, May 12 at a business on Hwy 79 in McKenzie. According to the female caller, a lone male driver in a red van pulled up attempting to start a fight. Davis arrived along with other officers and made contact with the witnesses and the van’s driver identified as Nicholas Miller, 33, of Camden. Miller admitted to drinking and performed poorly on several sobriety tests. His vehicle was searched and was found to be in possession of a handgun. Miller was arrested and charged with DUI, Violation of Implied Consent Law, and Possession of Handgun While Under the Influence.

Public Intoxication/Child Abuse-Neglect — Officer Trenton Ruddy responded to a 911 call from a Booker Street residence. A female stated she had been jumped and was about to die. The female was identified as Brianna Howard of McKenzie. She did not want to press charges but did request to be checked out by EMS. Howard told Sgt. Trey Boucher that if she didn’t go to jail she would shoot up the place where she had just been in an altercation. After further questioning, Howard was arrested for Public Intoxication along with Child Abuse/Neglect when information became available concerning other people having to pick up her kids.

Domestic Assault — Trenton Ruddy spoke to a female in the lobby of the police department on Thursday evening, May 19 regarding a potential Domestic Assault. The victim told Ruddy she felt her husband had threatened to hit her. Luis Alverez Aguirre was arrested and charged with Domestic Assault and transported to Carroll County Jail

Multiple Charges — Officer Darren Davis responded to a call at a local restaurant on Hwy 79, Saturday night, May 21. The store manager informed Davis that a male had fallen asleep in his vehicle in the drive-thru and had attempted to wake him.

Davis made contact with the male, identified as Jerry Higgs of Dresden, He did poorly on field sobriety tests administered to him. He was placed under arrest initially for DUI. A search of his truck turned up a Black SR22 Ruger along with unopened alcohol. He refused a blood/alcohol test.

Higgs was additionally charged with Possession of Firearm While Intoxicated and cited for violation of the Implied Consent Law.
